Recommended foods for diabetes

Brewer’s Yeast
Rich in chromium, it helps the pancreas produce more insulin. Studies show it can reduce insulin requirements for many diabetes patients.

Broccoli
A close relative of cauliflower, broccoli is rich in chromium, which helps regulate blood sugar and can reduce medication and insulin needs. It may prevent or control mild diabetes by improving glucose tolerance.

Curd
Introduces friendly bacteria into the digestive system that stimulate and cleanse the pancreas, enhancing insulin production.

Garlic
Scientifically proven to lower blood sugar. It contains potassium, zinc, sulfur, and manganese—all important for insulin production and glucose metabolism. Garlic helps prevent arteriosclerosis, a common diabetes complication. It can be consumed raw, cooked, taken as capsules, or enjoyed as garlic milk (crushed garlic mixed with milk).

Bengal Gram (Chickpea)
Increases glucose utilization, lowering insulin requirements and improving blood sugar control in diabetics. It’s a key component in diets aiming to improve glucose tolerance.

Bitter Gourd
Contains “plant-insulin” that lowers blood and urine sugar levels. Regular consumption helps prevent complications such as hypertension and eye problems. Effective forms include fresh juice, powdered seeds, decoctions, or dry powder mixed with liquids.

Black Gram
When germinated and combined with fresh bitter gourd juice, it effectively treats mild diabetes and supports nutrition. Sprouted black gram milk is also recommended.

Groundnut (Peanuts)
Eating a handful daily helps prevent malnutrition (especially niacin deficiency) and reduces vascular complications related to diabetes.
